This special fasting and purification retreat is performed in conjunction with the meditation practice of Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara. Engaging in this retreat is very powerful for purifying negative karma and pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving the blessings of Buddha and improving our love, compassion and bodhichitta (the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all).
*The Mahayana precepts are vows we take to abstain from certain actions for the duration of 24 hours. For more information about precepts please email firstname.lastname@example.org or see: kadampa.org/buddhism/taking-precepts
The retreat will begin with an introductory talk by Gen Kelsang Rabten at 7.30pm on Friday 12 April.
Gen Kelsang Rabten is the Resident Teacher of KMC Australia and KMC Melbourne. Ordained in 1994, he has studied under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for 30 years. Gen Rabten embodies the modern Kadampa way of life and shares Buddha’s teachings with warmth and joy.
