Buddha’s teachings on self-acceptance show us how to be our own friend, our own teacher and our own guide. However, we are sometimes our own worst enemy, causing ourself much pain and torment. It is not uncommon for people to turn on themselves, spiraling into feelings of hopelessness and self-loathing.
The truth is each and everyone of us has a limitless mind and the potential for deep happiness and self-confidence. In this course, learn to silence the inner critic, realise who you really are, and most importantly, become your own friend, teacher and guide.
Our weekly classes offer simple, practical methods to improve the quality of our life and develop inner peace through meditation and Buddhist teachings. Classes consist of two guided meditations and a teaching to help us solve our daily
problems and find the lasting happiness we seek. Beginners welcome.

The minimalist lifestyle is about having only what you need and striving to only use things that have a purpose. The objective? To make space and declutter your life.
But what about your mind?
Buddha taught that our mind is always moving, flitting from thought to thought without control. (“I should meditate/exercise/go for a walk/call my mother – but I have too much work/I’m tired/the house is a mess – oops, I forgot to pay that bill/return that phone call”...)
It might seem harmless, but this unstable attention makes our inner world cluttered, congested, and unpeaceful. It also makes happiness and well-being impossible.
Over this 5 week course we’ll explore the guiding principles that keep the mind free of negativity and turbulence. By living by these principles your mind will feel tidy and joyful. You’ll gain clarity, feel less overwhelmed, and get more done.
Current and upcoming class courses:
The Minimalist – 4 Guiding Principles to Declutter Your Life | 25 May, 1, 8, 15 June
Resolving Relationship Difficulties | 22, 29 June, 8 & 15 July
Now is the perfect time to enrol on our live-streamed Foundation Study Program (FP). We will learn the art of transforming life’s difficulties and problems into the path to happiness.
Based on Universal Compassion, an inspiring and empowering book written by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso that gives us the confidence and the tools to become peaceful and happy, FP closes the gap between spiritual training and modern life. Taught by the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre (KMC) Australia and Kadampa Meditation Centre (KMC) Melbourne, Gen Kelsang Rabten, this course offers the perfect opportunity to take your practice to a deeper level.
Joining FP involves studying the book and trying to attend all classes, one of which is an end-of-term exam. Each class consists of prayers, a guided meditation and a teaching. There are dedicated discussion classes. Live-stream correspondence students will have the opportunity to submit their questions to the discussion.
The class will be live streamed every Thursday evening from 6.30-9pm AEDT and will be available to view for one week.
If you are interested in joining the online Foundation Program please email education@kadampa.org.au for more information.
